What is Solidarity Now and how is it different from other political organizations?

Solidarity Now is a US-based political organization that attempts to take a different approach to organizing. Instead of convincing everyone that revolution is only possible by joining us and doing things our way, we want to recognize that multiple methods of organizing are effective. Moreover, with the many obstacles we are facing, the American left needs to prevent infighting and sectarianism at all costs.

Our organization encourages connection above all else. We believe every individual’s strengths lies in their unique background. Every person has valuable connections and expertise that can be used to further a political cause.

Solidarity Now can be thought of as a macromolecule, whereas most organizations are single molecules. Single molecules can accomplish a lot, but they are highly specific and therefore limited. But many molecules arranged in a larger macromolecular structure, such as a protein made up of hundreds of amino acids, are capable of much more.

An example structure of a macromolecule.

In line with this ethos, we encourage our members to join multiple organizations to promote collaboration and get ever closer to a united front that can achieve significant policy wins such as universal healthcare, free college, and a living wage.

We have members in San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, and London. We have members with connections to the Teamsters, Democratic Socialists of America, the Green Party (US), the Party for Socialism and Liberation, and more.
